dinners keep me entertained... ^_^

Don't worry, we haven't been starving since we came back from our winter break... =p the pictures were supposed to be uploaded long long time ago, but that never happened, with all the crazy winter+spring quarters that we had. but whisking out dishes for our lunches/dinners was definitely a must!

Here's the big collection of some of the yummy food we've had so far =D...

Claypot tofu - simple stirfry with the slightly pan-fried tofu, sweet peas, straw mushrooms and chinese mushroom, ground pork, celery, carrots etc.

Pineapple fried rice! haha... there was more ingredients than rice. typically me! (i'm never a fan of carbs... =P)

I think there was too much ingredients that we cut, so we simply made another dish by stir-frying them with sweet and sour sauce. perfecto!

Found a few simple (马来糕) cupcake recipes (1) (2) , so decided to try... dun remember exactly what i did, but sorta looked and combined both... =)

Stir-fry long beans with belachan chilli... omg, this was sooo hot i put ketchup with it before i ate it. haha. but at least FM got to stimulate his hot taste buds a little.

Oven-baked chicken. This turned out to be a little dry.

This period of time i was on a steaming exploration. haha. earlier, there was the 马来糕 cupcakes... then i decided to make the steamed banana cake, turned out pretty well! except there was a little bit of a strange flour-y taste to it. anyone has any suggestions to get rid of that? otherwise, this was super easy recipe.. just mix everything well, and steam for 20 min or so! easy!

Since not everyone was gonna be around for CNY itself, we had our S'porean steamboat dinner early. YB and Carene were the gracious hosts for this huge and successful event! the amount of food that they prepared was unbelievable. we definitely ate till our stomachs burst, and we still each ended up with a mini-steamboat pack (nicely packed by Carene) to bring home. simpy amazing dinner! (and definitely more to come in the future years!)

This was a feat: Eggplant parmesan. Did NOT expect this to be so tough to make... =P the eggplants need to be pressed and dried slightly first, then pan fried, before you can assemble the dish in the dish to bake... but of cos, after all the hard work put in... it was amazing!

Beef and yorkshire pudding casserole. This was kinda weird actually, the doughy thing at the sides kinda was just a separate entity from the beef meatloaf in the middle. =P but the meatloaf was not too bad...

Stirfry 豆苗

Braised tofu with shitake mushroom
- i liked this!

Kung Bao chicken! Darling liked this the last time we made it... so while thinking of what to cook for that week, this was a no-brainer repeat that he wanted to have. =)

Isn't this cool? ^_^ Found this italian meatloaf recipe, which is much more interesting than the usual meatloaf that doesn't contain much besides the big blob of minced meat. This was rolled with spinach and cheese inside!

Mixed vegetable quiche - the veggie part to balance the meatloaf. =)

ooh! i really liked this! Tofu with minced pork and (i think) 3 different types of mushrooms! i am really a big fan of tofu and mushroom. =)

from the tiramisu making session, we had leftover ladyfingers for quite a while... so i had to finish using them up. an online search on "ladyfinger recipes" showed charlottes as another dessert that typically uses ladyfingers... and so a charlotte it was! =P

the pancake family: the original, the chocolate and the peanut butter flavors... ^_^

This was an interesting recipe: rice cooker-cooked chicken rice. Stirfry everything together for a bit, then dump them into the rice cooker with water, and cook. in the end, although we had used normal jasmine rice, it even turned out to be like glutinuous rice (sorta like the dumplings)
this cabbage and leek soup is a turkish thing apparently. =) it's called "lahana ve pirasa corbasi"

we had gone for the IRM (institute of regenerative medicine) earlier, and one of the dinners had stuffed bell peppers with mushroom sauce. it was yummy! and so when i got back, this was one of the things i had to try making! =)

alright... that's enough stuffing you with food for now. >.< till next time!
