从 spelling bee 看历史，未来
just watched the last few minutes of the Scripps National Spelling Bee competition, which featured 3 indian kids (that i watched) spell words that few people have even heard of. wow. im impressed.
三个印度人在美国比英文。白人都死到哪里去了？看看身后的房友沉迷于电脑游戏之中，“大势已去” 四个字浮现脑海之中。前些日子在网上报刊读过，中国大陆也经常有类似的比赛。回想起来，自己也是在白人之地，把白人比了下去。我经常都在想，大家开口闭口 说中国印度是未来经济的栋梁，北美欧洲大势已去，到底有多少人真正明白这背后的涵义？
我一直以来都相信，历史是个循环。一个朝代如果要持久，就不能太成功。因为成功之后就难免骄傲，骄傲的国家就会沉滞，其他文化就会追上，把你淘汰掉。很明显的，目前西方文化太过猖狂，必备取代。
sigh... 改朝换代从没是件好事。 frankly. i fear the future...

我也以为沉沉浮浮很自然，否则历史就没什么看头了。：）你怕什么呢？
我为何会怕？因为到最后，i belong to the group which will be replaced.
前景暗淡。可唉可唉。
i don't know which group you are referring to, cos what singapore is always gives it's people the flexibility to go both ways, i always thought... you don't need to worry, i think you're pretty safe. the non-white population is exposed to much more that the white one, and that's why i think we are much less prone to cultural shocks and damage brought by changes.
