heavy food for tot...

frankly, i now tremble with fright over the stuff i have been reading for the last hour...
and no, im really serious here...

i was talking to a friend on the Sg Blogosphere vs CZ issue. and a link i searched for him started me reading... and the more i read, the chillier it got. could it be the cold weather outside? prob. but other stuff made my heart even colder...

i here list the sites i have been reading, in no particular order:
  • an unofficial news archive of an incident in 1998 where then-Chairman of EDB and current chairman of A*STAR Mr Phillip Yeo called for resignations from several of our Members of Parliament because they "support bond breakers". (this is a very very ugly incident) link
  • a public apology to Mr Phillip Yeo for comments made on a person's blog. link
  • yet another public apology to Mr Yeo from a very active blogger and ex-PSC scholar, AcidFlask, who was featured in the news recently for comments against scholarship orgnaisations. link (note: there's unconfirmed news that his blog in under a formal law suit. no joke)
  • "A Sad Day for the Singapore Blogosphere", a listing of commentaries on related issues link
i guess the stuff that i fear most is the part about top government officials being too big for their shoes. history has shown that power corrupts. and not even the top top man can do anything abt a corrupted bureaucracy. sg has always done well in rankings which showed our gov to be corruption-free. more specifically, they dont steal out money. but i guess corruption takes many forms. i wonder how hard it is to work with certain top gov officials if they have been in "power" for so long....

it also hit upon me another blog post i read recently, by a chinese writer, who commented oin the useless egg-throwing at jap embassies in china. he/she called upon his/her fellow chinese in america to be actively involve in social and political circles and make a true difference, just as the jews did. i was also surprised (or shld i be?) that i do personally know quite a few of the bloggers whose opinions mattered in the discussion. putting two and two together. could this be a thought revolution? the newer generation, using a new medium, expressing their frustrations at problems they've witnessed since young and couldnt do anything about? maybe. but this kind of blogosphere reaction should really be closely watched. for watever reasons.

im reading as im typing this post. i guess i really shldnt continue further. after all, my future's at stake, right?
